How we protect your belongings from Dubai heat during a summer move

Star Edge Movers full crew with a branded truck and moving boxes in Dubai summer heat

Ask anyone who’s moved house in Dubai in July or August: the heat isn’t a backdrop, it’s a factor in the move itself. A closed moving truck sitting in direct sun can reach temperatures well above what’s outside, and a handful of common household items don’t handle that well. Here is what actually gets damaged, and what we do differently on Star Edge moves scheduled during the hotter months.

What heat actually damages

Electronics. TVs, laptops, and game consoles can suffer battery and screen damage from extended exposure to high heat, particularly if they sit in a hot vehicle for a long loading or transit window.

Wooden furniture. Solid wood and veneer pieces can warp, crack, or have glued joints weaken when heat and low humidity swing quickly, common when moving from an air-conditioned villa into a hot truck and back into air conditioning.

Candles, cosmetics, and anything wax or cream-based. These melt in a hot vehicle and can ruin surrounding boxes if they leak.

Appliances with items left inside. Fridges and freezers moved with items still inside are a common source of both heat damage and unpleasant surprises on arrival.

What we do differently

During your free survey, we flag heat-sensitive items specifically rather than treating every box the same. In practice that means:

  • Electronics and anything wax or cream-based are identified and loaded to minimise time in transit, not left for the last, longest leg of the truck run.
  • Fridges and freezers are confirmed empty and defrosted, or scheduled with buffer time to do so, before move day, avoiding both heat and leak issues.
  • Wooden furniture is wrapped to reduce rapid humidity swings between air-conditioned interiors and the transit vehicle.
  • Summer move slots are scheduled with truck loading and unloading timed to avoid the vehicle sitting parked and sealed in direct sun for extended periods.

What you can do before move day

A few things help regardless of who you move with: defrost the fridge or freezer at least 24 hours ahead, keep electronics in their original boxes or padded cases rather than loose in a moving box, and mention any temperature-sensitive items, medication, wine, certain cosmetics, during your survey so they’re planned for rather than discovered on move day.
