The three things that decide an apartment move
An apartment move is a vertical problem wearing a horizontal disguise. The distance from your old flat to your new one might be two kilometres, and the job can still take a full day, because everything you own has to pass through a lift that is shared, timed, and frequently the only one serving forty floors. Understanding that changes what you should ask a mover: not how fast they drive, but whether they have booked the lift.
The service lift is the first factor. Buildings allocate it in fixed windows and it is reserved rather than shared on demand. Miss the window and you rarely wait twenty minutes, you wait for the next slot, which in a busy tower at month end can be the following day. The second is the move NOC, usually with a refundable deposit, which management will not waive and will not process on the morning. The third is basement clearance: many Dubai buildings have a height barrier that a standard moving truck cannot pass, which turns one carry into a shuttle from street level.
None of that is difficult, and all of it is slow if it starts on moving day. Packing is the biggest lever you control, and in a building with a timed lift slot professional packing usually pays for itself in schedule alone. Access decides how fast that volume can physically move: lift availability, basement clearance, floor level and carry distance. Timing affects availability more than price, with month-end the hardest window to book anywhere in Dubai.
What should not appear on your final invoice is a charge for any of the access variables. Floor level, lift waiting, stairs and a long carry from the permitted loading point are ours to plan for and absorb.
