The second job is more common than people expect. New furniture arrives flat-packed and the delivery driver leaves it in the hallway. A room is being repainted and everything has to come out and go back. A wardrobe needs to move upstairs and will not fit assembled. A television, mirror or shelving unit needs mounting into the right wall type with the right fixings. Somebody bought a bed frame with instructions that assume tools nobody owns.

Wall types
The part that goes wrong most often
Mounting is where DIY furniture jobs fail in Dubai apartments, and the reason is wall construction. A lot of interior walls in newer buildings are hollow blockwork or plasterboard partition rather than solid concrete, and a bracket rated for concrete will pull straight out of plasterboard under the weight of a large television. The fixing has to match the wall, which means knowing what the wall is before drilling into it.
We check the wall type first, use the appropriate anchors, avoid drilling where services are likely to run, and level properly rather than by eye. If you are in a rental, we can also advise on what will need making good at the end of your tenancy, which is worth thinking about before a large mirror goes onto a wall you do not own.

- Tell us the item brand and model where you can, assembly time varies enormously between manufacturers
- Check whether your building requires contractor access approval, some Dubai towers do even for small jobs
- Have the item on site before we arrive, we cannot assemble what has not been delivered
- For wall mounting, tell us if you are renting so we can advise on making good later
- Keep the instruction leaflet and fittings bag, missing screws are the commonest cause of delay
- For renovation clear-outs, agree in advance whether items are stored or sheeted in place

Can you mount my TV and curtains?
Yes, TV wall mounting, curtain rails, blinds, mirrors and artwork are all included in our installation service, with the correct fixings for your wall type.
Is installation included when I move with you?
Yes, dismantling and reassembly of your furniture is part of every Star Edge move at no extra charge. Standalone installation is also available if you’re not moving.
How is standalone installation priced?

Do you assemble flat-pack furniture?
Yes, from any manufacturer. Wardrobes, beds, desks, shelving units and storage systems are built, levelled and positioned where you want them, with packaging removed rather than left in the hallway.
Is this the same as furniture movers?
Not quite, and it is worth being clear. If you are moving home, furniture dismantling and reassembly is already included in our villa and apartment moving prices. This service is for assembly, mounting and shifting within a property where no household move is taking place.
Can you move furniture between rooms without a full move?
Yes. Room-to-room shifting is a common job, particularly during redecoration or when a room changes use. Floors and doorways are protected, heavy items are dismantled if they will not clear a doorway, and everything is rebuilt in position.
Do you mount televisions and mirrors?
Yes, and we check the wall type first. Many interior walls in newer Dubai buildings are hollow block or plasterboard rather than solid concrete, and a fixing rated for concrete will fail in a partition wall under the weight of a large screen.
Can you take furniture apart to get it up a staircase?
Yes, that is one of the most frequent requests. Wardrobes and bed frames that will not clear a landing assembled are dismantled, carried through and rebuilt in the room, rather than forced through a doorway and damaged.
How much does furniture assembly cost?
It is quoted per job rather than per hour, after you describe or photograph what is needed. Sending photographs on WhatsApp produces a far more accurate figure than a written description, and the price is fixed before we attend.
Do you help during renovations?
Yes. We clear the room or property, either taking furniture into storage or sheeting and protecting it in place, then return it and rebuild once the work is finished. It is booked as two visits with one written price.
Do you fit curtain rails and blinds?
Yes, including tracks and rails into the appropriate wall type, with curtains hung. It is commonly booked alongside a move so the home is finished rather than functional-but-bare.
What if screws or fittings are missing?
It is the commonest cause of delay on assembly jobs, so keep the fittings bag with the item. Where something is genuinely missing we will tell you what to obtain rather than improvising with a fixing that will not hold.
Do I need building approval for a small job?
Some Dubai towers require contractor access approval even for furniture assembly or wall mounting. Check with your building management and tell us at booking, and we will provide whatever documentation they ask for.
Is the work insured?
Anything we carry is covered by transit insurance, subject to the agreed written scope. For wall mounting and fixings we use appropriate anchors for the wall type, which is the practical protection that matters most.
