The best (and cheapest) time to move in Dubai

Timing your move well in Dubai can save you real money and a lot of stress. Moving prices and availability swing with the calendar: month-end, weekends and the summer heat all change how much you pay and how easy it is to book. Here is how to time your move to pay less and move smoothly.
In this guide
Why month-end is the most expensive time
Most tenancy contracts in Dubai end on the last day of the month, so a huge number of people move in the final few days. Demand for movers, service lifts and building permits peaks, slots fill up, and prices are at their highest. If you have any flexibility, avoiding the last three or four days of the month is the single biggest way to move more easily.
The cheapest window: mid-month, mid-week
The calmest and often cheapest time to move is the middle of the month, mid-week. Movers have more availability, buildings are quieter, and you have more choice of time slots. If you can align your tenancy or move date to a Tuesday or Wednesday around the 10th to 20th, you are moving at the easiest possible time.
Moving in the Dubai summer
Summer, roughly June to September, brings intense heat. Moving is still completely doable, but plan for it: start early in the morning before the peak heat, keep water on hand, and make sure heat-sensitive items like candles, electronics and artwork are packed to travel safely and loaded last. Summer can also be slightly quieter for movers, which sometimes helps with availability.
Weekends versus weekdays
Weekends are popular because people are off work, which means higher demand and busier buildings. Weekdays are usually easier to book and can be smoother, especially for apartment moves where you need a service lift. If you can take a day off mid-week, your move will often be less rushed.
How to pay less, whenever you move
Beyond timing, a few habits always lower your cost: declutter before the survey so you only move what you need, get a fixed written quote so the price cannot creep up, book one to two weeks ahead, and consider a video survey to get an accurate price quickly. When is the cheapest time to move in Dubai?
Mid-month and mid-week are usually the cheapest and easiest, because demand is lowest. The most expensive and busiest time is the last few days of the month, when most tenancy contracts end.
Is it cheaper to move on a weekday?
Often yes. Weekdays tend to have more mover availability and quieter buildings than weekends, which can mean easier booking and a smoother move, especially for apartments needing a service lift.
Can I move during the Dubai summer?
Yes. Summer moves are common and completely doable. Start early in the day to avoid peak heat, stay hydrated, and make sure heat-sensitive items are packed carefully and loaded last.
How far ahead should I book to get a good price?
Book one to two weeks ahead where possible. This secures your preferred slot and gives time to plan permits and lifts, especially important near month-end.
Does the moving price change on the day?
With Star Edge it does not. You get one fixed price in writing after a free survey, and it does not change on moving day regardless of timing.
